ABOUT ME

I’m a freelance sound engineer with a lot to offer when it comes to live events. Since playing guitar from a young age, I’ve always had an interest in music. I soon found myself mixing bands in pubs and clubs and starting to gain a real passion for live audio. I took a level 3 BTEC in music, but realised that the performing side wasn’t for me. I’d often find myself in the recording studio learning how to use all the analogue gear. On completing the BTEC with a Distinction* I was lucky enough to get by for a couple of years, reading, watching and asking as many questions as I could to learn my trade. I owe a lot to my local theatres and production companies for what I have learnt, many of which are still regular clients now.

10 years on I have developed a career that I enjoy with an interest in all aspects of live event production. I have met some great people along the way and have been involved in some amazing events and productions. I typically find myself working within the festival, corporate and exhibition sectors, regularly dipping my toe back into a bit of theatre work every now and then.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with some great artists at festivals, private events and theatre shows. I love ever expanding my knowledge and experience and always enjoy the added pressure of a new challenge.

WHAT I DO

I’m an approachable person with the expertise to achieve a technically clean show. I am reliable, punctual and take pride in attention to detail, ensuring each task is achieved to the highest standard. I’m used to being client facing and I quickly establish efficient new working relationships and work well as part of a team.

WORK & PROJECTS

Sound Engineering is my speciality, but I’m a good all-rounder, perfect for situations where you need technicians to get stuck in and get the job done.

KIND WORDS

“I worked with George for six weeks at the end of 2019 and as a pro drummer I can honestly say he was an absolute joy to work with. His professionalism, knowledge, communication and ability under pressure were second to none, and the drum sound in my headphones was nothing short of fantastic. I cannot recommend him enough. I have worked with countless professional sound engineers through my career and George is right up there with the very best of them. I would not hesitate to have him on board with me for any future project I am involved in.”

Shan Chana, MD & Pro Drummer, UK

“George has been our go to sound engineer now for the past three years working on touring shows the Greatest Hits Of Motown “How Sweet It Is” and Saturday Night Bee Gees “The Brothers Gibb”. George is an excellent sound engineer with good people skills, a good professional attitude to the job and is very likeable. He is totally aware of what today’s artists and musicians require from their sound engineer, has excellent mixing skills, and is well versed in today’s ever-changing technology. I would have no hesitation in recommending George to any potential Promoter/ Employer who is looking for an experienced, professional, top-quality sound engineer.”

Brian Allen, Company Manager Nett UK LTD

“The on stage sound tonight was immense! My monitor mix was as good as I’ve heard. These subs were superb. Using IEM’s is usually the best sound for me on stage (when they’re mixed correctly) but tonight was awesome. Shout out to the sound engineer, George Mewett!”

Simon Moore, Pro Drummer, UK

“I have used George‘s services to run the sound and lights at several music festivals, both on a personal basis and for HoVEC (Horsmonden Village Events Community Group). George approaches his work in both a professional and friendly manner. Put simply ‘he makes my job that much easier’ and I would highly recommend his services.”
